Since 2005, the CEF Board, Staff, Support Churches, Volunteers, Partners and Friends have enjoyed the privilege of watching the Lord Jesus work in extraordinary ways through after-school Good News Clubs during the school year and Summer Good News Clubs during the summer.
In the Greenville/Piedmont District of South Carolina, thousands of locally trained volunteers have reached tens of thousands of children with the “good news” of Christ. The fun, evangelistic Bible club for boys and girls ages 5-12 meets one hour a week in public elementary schools and community centers during the school year. Currently there are 9,840 children involved in Good News Clubs in 97 public schools and 5 community centers in Greenville, Pickens, Anderson, and Oconee Counties. There are 1,875 volunteers serving weekly in the Good News Clubs.
During the summer 2011, our teenage Christian Youth In Action Missionaries hold Summer Good News Clubs® all over the greater Piedmont district. A Summer Good News Club lasts an hour a day for one week during the summer. The clubs meet in recreation centers, child care centers, apartment complexes—anywhere there are children. Last summer there were 25 teens serving as CYIA missionaries. The CYIA missionaries worked in 108 Summer Good News Clubs® where 2419 children participated. During the summer of 2011, 173 children received Christ as Lord! 2011-2012
